1 - History of the Banner Ad (Running Time - 15:42)
We will take a stroll down memory lane and see where the banner ad
started and how far it has come over the last 13 years. We will look
at some classic examples of banners that have lasted for years -
almost unheard of in a medium that demands constant change.
2 - Pardon the Interruption (Running Time - 8:56)
Banners are largely designed to interrupt an user who is reading/
surfing the web and take him to another site. This form of
advertising on the web has been challenged over the years, especially
as search engine marketing has become so popular. We will discuss the
difference between the two types of online advertising and why there
is unique opportunity for Flash designers today.

One of the keys to success in any ad campaign starts well before you
design the ad. We will discuss the most effective ad placements on a
web page.
4 - Ad Design for Maximum Response (Running Time - 26:48)
Your client does not care if your ad is cute, clever, or unique, they
only care about how many people click the ad. Most designers fall
flat on their face creating ads because they don't have the proper
training and they let their ego get in the way. We will make sure you
understand the principles of what makes people click.

9 - Test Ad 1 - Adding the Text (Running Time - 10:27)
In this video, Craig finishes up the graphic elements of the banner by
walking you through the creation of all of the text elements.
10 - Test Ad 1 - Scrolling Text Animation (Running Time - 10:57)
Animating the text of our banner will draw the reader's eye towards
the banner. In this video, Craig will take a text list of video
categories and show you how to make it scroll upwards continuously.
11 - Test Ad 1 - Typing Effect (Running Time - 10:07)
This video walks you through another text effect. In this one, you
will learn how to animate a block of text so that it looks like it's
being typed onto the stage as you watch.
12 - Test Ad 1 - Final Animation (Running Time - 7:09)
In a previous video, we
created a round seal graphic, a bold text field with an outline, and a
graphic that included the LearnFlash.com logo. In this video, you will
learn how to animate these graphic elements onto the stage.
13 - Test Ad 1 - Invisible Buttons (Running Time - 11:45)
With the animation
finished on our first Flash banner, Craig will show you how to create
an invisible button that will hover over the entire banner so that the
user can click wherever they wish. This is very important, because if
we want the user visiting our website, we want to make it easy for
them. We don't want them to have to hunt for something to click on.
14 - Test Ad 2 - Updating the Graphics (Running Time - 11:32)
The second Flash
banner we create will be very similar to the first one, so we won't
have to make all that many changes. In this video, Craig will walk you
through the graphic changes that are to be made to this banner.
15 - Test Ad 2 - Hand Cursor Animation (Running Time - 6:46)
In this video, Craig will finish up the second Flash banner ad by
showing you how to create an animation with a fake mouse cursor moving
across the stage and clicking on a hotspot on the banner. In
actuality, the entire banner will be clickable, but this kind of
animation acts as kind of a call to action for the user.
16 - Game Banner - Setting the Stage (Running Time - 10:45)
Starting in this
video, Craig will show you how to make a banner ad that seems to be
everywhere these days. You've probably seen banner ads that ask you to
click on some kind of moving target. Well, that's exactly what we're
going to create. In this video, Craig creates the background and some
simple graphic elements for the game banner.
17 - Game Banner - Ant Animation (Running Time - 9:29)
The moving target in this banner is going to be an animated ant. In
this video, Craig will show you how to create an ant that crawls
around the stage, trying to avoid capture.
18 - Game Banner - Finishing Up (Running Time - 11:32)
In this video, Craig will duplicate the ant animation and turn one of
the ants red. The red one will be the target. With all the ants in
place, Craig will then show you how to make the red ant clickable.
19 - Floating Banner- The Graphics (Running Time - 14:14)
One sure way of getting your user's attention is by creating a banner
that hovers over the rest of the content on your web page. In this
video, Craig will walk you through creating the graphic elements of
our floating banner.
20 - Floating Banner - RollOver Animation (Running Time - 12:15)
For this particular banner, when the user first sees it, it won't be
floating. But when the user hovers over the banner, it will expand out
to the side, and the expanding part will hover over the text of the
web page. In this video, you will learn how to create the animation
where the banner expands outwards.
21 - Floating Banner - Adding Video (Running Time - 5:16)
Adding video to a
banner isn't as hard as you might think. In this video, Craig will
walk you through encoding a video and then placing a video object on
the stage.
22 - Floating Banner- Coding the Video (Running Time - 10:24)
With the video object on the stage, Craig will now show you how to
code the video in ActionScript in order to get it to work. When the
user hovers over the banner, we want the banner to expand outwards,
revealing the video, which would then start playing. And then, when
the user moves his cursor away from the video, it will stop.
23 - Floating Banner - Making it Float (Running Time - 14:50)
Here comes the
tricky part, the part we've all been waiting for. In this video, Craig
will publish the video file, insert it into a plain html page, and
then show you what you need to do to make it float over the text.
